Details

The annual SEC Symposium is an academic conference-type event that is intended to address a significant scholarly issue by utilizing the range of disciplinary strengths of all Southeastern Conference universities. It is also an opportunity to gather leading scholars in relevant fields from other U.S. institutions to the Southeast. The event is one of several activities undertaken by SECU, the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Each SEC university will be represented by its students in several planned activities. Student-focused events include a graduate school interest mixer, creative works exhibition and music ensemble. Students will also participate in an entrepreneurial pitch competition.

SEC PRESIDENTS, CHANCELLORS AND PROVOSTS RECEPTION

All registered SEC Symposium attendees are invited to join the SEC Presidents, Chancellors and Provosts at 6:30 p.m. for an evening reception on Monday, September 21, 2015. The reception will be in the Embassy Hall in the International Tower (Exhibit Level LL2) of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. University of Florida President, Dr. W. Kent Fuchs, is expected to deliver special remarks, and all attendees are asked to wear their nametags to the reception.

EXCELLENCE IN STUDENT ATTENDANCE AWARD

To encourage student participation in the SEC Symposium, all SEC universities will be eligible for the "Excellence in Student Attendance Award." This award will be presented at the end of the SEC Symposium to the SEC university with the most registered students. Students will be required to show a student ID when checking in at the SEC Symposium registration desk at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta to verify student status.
