The annual SEC Symposium is an academic conference-type event that is intended to address a significant scholarly issue by utilizing the range of disciplinary strengths of all Southeastern Conference universities. It is also an opportunity to gather leading scholars in relevant fields from other U.S. institutions to the Southeast. The event is one of several activities undertaken by SECU, the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference.
Each SEC university was represented by its students in several planned activities. Student-focused events included a graduate school interest mixer, creative works exhibition and music ensemble. Students also participated in an entrepreneurial pitch competition.
